Here’s to 2021 🍸
Happy New Year! 2020 was a tough year with many of us happy to see it behind us. There is reason to have hope, not just because 2020 is behind us but because God is still God. God is still working out his purposes in the world which go beyond our understanding, He is still partnering with us to bring His presence and kingdom to life within our circles, He is still seeking out those who do not know Him and drawing them onto Himself. We have reason to have hope! We have exciting plans for founders and creators in 2021 and hope we can be a resource, partner and amplifier for you as you work to bring new life in the culture around you.
Please continue to pray for us, please continue to pray for the world, we will continue to pray for you. The world needs people of light now more than ever.
The Next Frontier of Work is ‘Spiritual’
80 - 90’s
"Money, Money, Money" these were the golden years of Wall Street. This era of work marked and celebrated ‘Self’. How quickly could you get to the top and elbow out your competition along the way. Gender and racial equality weren't credible movements in the workplace, you were expected to be thankful just to be there.
2000’s
Saw the rise of corporate social responsibility, conscious business and social entrepreneurship. TOMS Shoes (2006) SoulCycle (2006) and Kiva (2005) launch as do many others and work begins to take an outward focus on people and planet. Employees begin to hold employers and the definition of work to a higher standard.
2010’s
Work begins to shift its focus back inward to the welfare of employees as a result of a number of notable scandals and cases of overworked and underpaid workers. This is the era that recognised the importance of Health and Wellbeing. This relationship between work-life and personal health saw the proliferation of a new wave of personal care brands like Ritual Vitamins (2016) Calm App (2012) and opened the floor for office wide meditation, yoga sessions, and new age workshops.
2020’s
This decade will see more 'spiritual exploration' and the role our workplaces play in it. Building upon the spiritual appetite from the last decade, we may begin to see work sponsored spiritual retreats, lunch & learns covering spiritual themes. This provides a great opportunity for innovative ideas, initiatives and businesses that speak to this spiritual hunger, through the lens of faith. Is there room for company chaplains? Solitude retreats? Employee opt-in for prayer when sick or going through hard times.
This is a new horizon.
Our favourite book of 2020:
What does it mean to partner with God to bring ‘garden’ on earth? Why should we find time to rest? What does it mean to be human? we highly recommend John Mark Comer’s book Garden City.
There is a season for everything under the sun—even when we can’t see the sun.
